My desire as the Director of Spiritual Formation is
to create a space to facilitate conversation and reflection, to extend an invitation to journey together with Christ as His
apprentices. Jesus invites us into a Way of living. As we walk with Him and learn the "unforced rhythms of
grace," our lives are transformed. We begin to take on His character and
our souls are re-oriented around a new way of life. We embody his love, his concern for the plight of this world, and his heart for the orphaned.
We are all on a journey following someone or something. We are continually being formed and molded into the image of the thing we are devoted to. As followers of Jesus we are invited to participate in a redemptive process where we are being formed into the image of Christ. This process Dallas Willard states is, "The redemptive process of forming the inner human world so that it takes on the character of the inner being of Christ himself.”
As we undergo this transformation our lives begin to live to a different beat, a redemptive rhythm of following Christ into The Way. This redemptive rhythm embraces the inward journey of the soul
with Christ in prayer and the incarnational-outward expression of His love among the fatherless. As we walk with Christ this inward and outward rhythm
hopefully becomes as natural to our existence as breathing is to our bodies. This is the Journey into His Way we are invited to travel together. You've been invited!
On "The Journey" with you,
~Derek
